Vision Exams
Our comprehensive vision examinations offer testing using the latest technology available.  Testing includes refraction (determination of best corrective lens power), eye coordination, depth perception, peripheral vision, color vision and ocular health assessment.

Contact Lenses
We fit all types of contact lenses including astigmatic (toric), bifocal, extended wear, disposable, planned replacement, and both soft and gas permeable contact lenses.  We also offer the newest lens designs available for patients that suffer from dry eyes.

Eyewear
Eyewear Concepts, is the name of our optical dispensary. We offer a wide selection fashionable eyewear to meet the needs and desires of all patients.  We also offer a number of common lens materials for eyewear including glass, CR-39 plastic, polycarbonate, mid-index and high-index lens materials, each of which has particular characteristics that can help you make an ideal choice for your eyewear.

There are numerous lens designs available to meet your vision requirements.  Some common lens designs that may be recommended include single vision, bifocals, trifocals, progressive addition lenses (no-line bifocal/trifocal) and occupational lenses.  We also offer a variety of products to enhance the usefulness of your lenses.  The products include anti-scratch coatings, anti-reflective coatings, photochromic lenses, Transitions lenses, polarized lenses, ultra violet filters and lens tints.

Our office has a full service lab that features a patternless computer edger for fast and accurate lens grinding to fit any frame.  We can duplicate virtually any shape, and the shape will be on file for quick lens duplication.  We are capable of edging all lens materials and performing lens tinting, lens grooving, edge polishing and other treatments for prescription and non-prescription eyewear.

AmigoLow Vision
People who have lost eyesight due to injuries or eye disease need special types of products to help them function as independently as possible.  We offer a full range of products from magnifiers to telescopes and closed circuit televisions (CCTV).  Our paraoptometric staff is trained to demonstrate the use of some of these devices.  In addition, we can direct those who have low vision problems to vision rehabilitation specialists who can make house calls and offer suggestions that will help them carry out daily living tasks.

Ocular Health
Our doctors are certified to medically treat a variety of ocular conditions including eye infections, inflammations, foreign bodies and glaucoma.  Our doctors are continually trained and educated on the latest medical developments.

  • Dry eyes - We offer the many forms of therapy for dry eye including lubricating drops, punctual occlusion and the most recent prescription dry eye therapies.  Lubricating drops are typically used as the first line of therapy.  Punctal occlusion is a procedure that allows your eye to retain more of its own tears by blocking the drainage of tears using a microscopic sterile plug.
  • Ocular allergies – There a number of treatment options for those who suffer from ocular allergies.  Prescription drops can have different mechanisms of action, one of which may work better than others for certain individuals.  Contact lens wearers with allergies also have a number of options, from treatment with drops to daily wear contact lenses.
  • Eye Infections – We are able to treat eye infections with medicated topical drops and oral medications.
  • Glaucoma (visual field, HRT, pachymetry) - Our office incorporates the most recent technologies into diagnosing and treating glaucoma, glaucoma suspects and ocular hypertensive patients.  We have introduced the Heidelberg Retinal Tomographer (HRT) into our practice allowing for earlier detection of glaucoma and enhanced progression analysis.  We also perform visual field analysis, intraocular pressure measurements, corneal pachymetry (corneal thickness measurements), fundus photography (pictures of the optic nerve and retina) and gonioscopy to monitor our glaucoma patients and to ensure their treatments are working effectively.

Diabetes (camera) (HRT) – We are able to detect and monitor forms of diabetic retinopathy and can make proper referrals when treatment is recommended.  Retinal photographs are taken in order to easily observe retinal changes that occur over time with diabetic retinopathy.  With our new technology, the Heidelberg Retinal Tomographer (HRT) is able to detect macular edema (retinal swelling) that may occur with diabetic retinopathy.  This test can easily allow monitoring of macular edema to ensure proper resolution.
  • Foreign body removal – We are able to remove foreign bodies of the eyes and lids.
  • Macular degeneration (camera) – We can diagnose macular degeneration and recommend specific treatments to aid in slowing the progression.  There are a number of new surgical treatments available, and for those who require surgical treatment, proper referrals can be made.

Ocular Surgery
Our office offers co-management of cataract and refractive surgery.  We can evaluate and advise you about various procedures and recommend a surgical specialist for you.  Post-operative examinations can be performed in our office following surgery to give you personal attention and carefully monitor your progress.  We work in affiliation with the Eye Clinic of North Dakota, allowing cataract surgery and post-operative care to be performed in Dickinson.  We also have working arrangements established with other specialized eye care doctors to manage conditions such as retinal detachments, retinal tears, retinal hemorrhages, macular degeneration and lid procedures.  Post-operative care for these conditions will vary depending on the condition and procedure/medical treatment.

  • Cataract removal – We perform 1 week, 1 month and six month post-operative examinations.
  • Refractive surgery (lasik, prk, ck) (pachy, topo) – We perform pre-operative examinations and post-operative care including exams at 1 week, 1 month, 3 months, 6 months and 1 year.
  • Lid procedures
  • Macular degeneration
